Thursday 5th August
- Song Writing & Digital Music with RANCH RECORDING STUDIO Work with recording studio professionals to get some top tips for digital sound recording. You’ll get the chance to and write & record a song in a morning!
- Better The Eastenders Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the BBC’s iconic soap opera by making and recording your own scene inspired by classic archive footage.
- Pop Singing Work with a professional vocal coach to improve your singing, learn microphone techniques and how to approach auditions
- T-Shirt design with professional fashion designer Use Photoshop to design and create your very own Blast T-shirt design and then print it onto a T-shirt in this taster session. T-shirts supplied and no experience needed!
- Bollywood Dance with Rakhi Sood Into dance? Come and join this Bollywood dance session led by professional dancer & actress Rakhi Sood.
- Make a photostory comic strip! Learn how to tell a story using photos and make your own comic strip. Work with specialist Martin Reid from Mount Pleasant Media Workshop – no experience necessary.
- Discovery Drop-in with the BBC BLAST CREW Try out taster workshops in everything from photo morphing to creating a comic, and playing Guitar Hero to recording a ’shout out’ that gets played on Blast Out Loud radio!
Friday 6th August
- Stop Frame Animation Ever wanted to make a film like Wallace and Gromit? Here’s your chance to work with an experienced animator to take the first steps and learn some of the basic modelling skills behind making an animated film. No experience necessary!
- Learn to Beatbox and Freestyle with MC GLEEM and OCHS Microphones provided – and they’ll show you how – no experience necessary.
- T-Shirt design with professional fashion designer Use Photoshop to design and create your very own Blast T-shirt design and then print it onto a T-shirt in this taster session. T-shirts supplied and no experience needed!
- Blast Cast Radio Work as part of a team to create a locally themed radio programme to be showcased on Blast’s very own radio station Blast Out Loud. Report on local events, gigs and issues that are important to you and your mates then learn how to put them together into a package suitable for radio and the web.

Saturday 7th August
- Live band filming experience! Work with an expert sound engineer, video director and a live band. First you’ll get the chance to learn the basics of mic-ing up and engineering a band’s live sound. Next you’ll be involved in creating a three camera live video mix of the band as they perform. No experience needed!
- Hip Hop with BABY J Into making your own music? This is your chance to take the next steps and work with leading music industry producer and artist Baby J to develop your production skills and ask questions about the industry.
- Skateboard Film Documentary Crew Use professional Z1 camera kits as used by BBC to make your own film documentary – using live action at the Hoglands Park Skateboard Festival.
- Comic Strip Character drawing Work with professional comix artists to develop & draw your own comic book character and learn how to create a comic strip. No experience necessary.
- Digital Soundtracks Matt from SOCO leads this session on loop based audio production – create digital soundtracks, music for film, or a theme for the Blast showcase event.
- Festival Photography Take photos around the BBC Blast site, load them up and edit using photoshop with top tips from an industry expert.
- Blast Showcase Come to this free showcase event at 5.30pm to see some of the best of Blast in Southampton!
